Two Blues winning ways continue
PRAHRAN took another step towards its quest for the double chance in VAFA Division 1 with a 56 point win over Old Yarra Cobras on Saturday.
While it was nothing like the 104 point round two demolition, the Two Blues were in control for most of game against a much improved opposition in a 14-12 (96) to 5-10 (40) win.
Crucially the four premiership points put the Two Blues a game and percentage clear of third placed Ormond and fourth placed Parkside.
Sterner tests await, but a 8-2 win loss record after 10 rounds is encouraging.
Prahran posted the first three goals of the game from Taylor Bamford, George Torney and Jon Simonetta in the first seven minutes.
But Old Yarra steadied with two goals in reply and it was clear this was a win the Two Blues were going to have to earn.
The second quarter proved pivotal with goals to Simonetta, Bamford, Rory Brodie and Matthew Clifford while restricting the home team to just two points.
The Two Blues switch and link up play was at times brilliant to watch with their disposal a feature.
The second half was more pedestrian as Old Yarra was intent on defence to limit the damage which the scoreline of 6-8 to 3-7 showed they achieved.
Bamford continued his progression as one of the most improved small forwards in the competition with four goals while Ethan Plaza slotted three.
Stand out player was wingman Tom Seaman who covered an enormous amount of ground roaming up and down the field.
The Two Blues defence featured several intercept marks and was a frugal as ever conceding just five goals and maintaining their rating as the best backline in the competition with Pat Ribbands and Luke Gorman continuing their productive seasons.
One sour note was a serious shoulder injury to wingman Jesse Waters who had racked up possessions at will before his mishap.
PRAHRAN 4-2 8-4 11-0 14-12 (96)

Goals. Bamford 4, Plaza 3, Clifford, Simonetta, Brodie 2, Torney 1.
