Two Blues post another away win

AWAY wins in VAFA football are always highly valued and Prahran delivered a professional mid-season victory at Brunswick's Gillon Oval on Saturday.

The 50 point 12-13 (85) to 5-5 (35) win means the Two Blues are undefeated in five away games after nine rounds.

Despite the win Prahran slipped from second to third on percentage on the Division 1 ladder behind Parkside 198.9 to 195.7.

The game started in somewhat dry conditions and Brunswick proved most competitive.

But the Two Blues settled in the second quarter and gradually took control.

The usual suspects Mackenzie Mayne and Patrick Marks got the mid-field on top and the defence was as frugal as ever keeping the home team goalless in the second and third quarters.

After half time the rain descended and the game turned into an old fashion mud slog, the middle of the ground looked like a pig pen and the game became a scrap.

The Two Blues proved much the cleaner team in the conditions on the day.

In an even team performance Peter Ahern competed well all day, Marks looked a class above in the wet and teenager Tom Cotter continues to prove himself one of the best young talents we’ve seen in years.
