Two Blues percentage booster

PRAHRAN vaulted from fifth to second place on the VAFA Division 1 ladder following a round 4 percentage boosting win over UHS-VU on Saturday.

The Two Blues won by 108 points - 18-16 (124) to 2-4 (16)-  in a rout over a hapless rival decimated by the defection of several players from last season and injuries.

Skipper Rory Brodie set the tone of the day with three first quarter goals courtesy of some clutch marks. He finished the day with five majors in another dominant display.

By half-time the margin had ballooned to 51 points.

While the opposition was limited, the Two Blues ball movement was the best this season, with overuse of handballs the one criticism from coach Ash Lever.

There were plenty of highlights such as the overhead snap goal by Peter Ahern in the third term, but none better than the chain of handballs in the third quarter which ended in a goal by running defender James Gottschalk.

Then in the last quarter a series of passes ended with recruit Ben Burrows kicking his first goal in senior football for the Two Blues.

Shaun Chapman, best afield in the 2024 grand final, played his best game for the season while Patrick Marks was again dominant in clearances.

First season players Liam Hepburn and Tylar Atkinson continue to impress.

WOMENS

Our match commenced at 11am following on from a fabulous Mother’s Day breakfast hosted by Collegians Football Club at the Harry Trott Pavilion.

It was a very wet morning at the Trott which made the game a battle of wills for much of the day. The team played tough, gritty football and applied themselves to the task of adapting to the slippery conditions. They tackled hard and ran to support each other all day, resulting in another very comprehensive win.

The team is showing how well they’ve gelled together and are proving to be a massive challenge for whoever they play.

With the completion of the four grading games and being undefeated, we can’t wait to see what will unfold for the rest of the year.
