Two Blues Netball Team Face Tough First Semi-Final Task

Prahran Football Club Netball Team the Two Blues bowed out of the finals with honour after confronting ladder leader the Parrots in the first semi final of the Prahran Netball Association on Tuesday December 2.

A first quarter scoreline of 6-7 was indicative of a tight match.

But the Parrots stepped up a gear in the second term and virtually sealed the match with a 9-1 burst.

Suddenly the Two Blues , while still competitiove, started to miss shots while the Parrots found their radar and from 7-15 the result was inevitable.

The last quarter was goal for goal with seven each resulting in a 18-32 loss, defeated but far from disgraced for a first season team against an established opposition.

Thanks to all the girls who played and supported the team.

The club will aim to field multiple teams in 2015, refer to this website for details.

No doubt the season highlight was an amazing come-from-behind win over the Dynamites in round 7.

Trailing 7-15 at half-time and 15-20 at three quarter time, the Two Blues seemed consigned to a heavy defeat.

But in a remarkable turnaround the girls shot the lights out in the last quarter drawing level at 21 apiece.

Suddenly the Dynamites' turnovers mounted and they started to miss shots while the Two Blues gained in confidence and then careered away to an emphatic 26-21 win.

Unfortunately ace defender Belinda will miss the rest of the season but there is plenty of depth in the Two Blues squad.

The morale boosting win came of a loss to ladder leader Parrots ending a hattrick of wins by the Two Blues who led all match to win 20-10 v Elwood .

The previous week they won 21-19 against the Silver Bullets and before that led all night to just last in a thriller downing the Purple People Eaters 19-18.

The introduction of the Two Blues netball team is part of our evolving Community Sport Program.
