Two Blues Humiliated

Seniors:

Prahran Assumption suffered a humiliating 121 point trouncing by Williamstown CYMS on Saturday.

The injury ravaged Two Blues were powerless to stem the flow of goals as they suffered their heaviest defeat in recent memory.

Simply the Two Blues were totally outclassed by a team that posted 26-7 and is destined for promotion to C Grade.

It was a long afternoon for Two Blues fans at the seaside venue which is more like a park than a football arena.

Luke Molan, a top 10 selection by Melbourne at the 2001 AFL Draft, booted eight goals from full-forward as the home team slammed on goals almost at will.

At one stage mid-way through the third quarter the scoreline read Prahran Assumption 1-3 to Williamstown CYMS 18-2.

Then in five golden minutes for the suffering fans the Two Blues slammed on four goals from James Musster, Adam Sleight, Jamie Robbins (two).

But from then on it was more of the same with home side adding a further five goals to one in the last quarter.

The undermanned Two Blues tried hard but simply lacked the skill level of Williamstown CYMS.

It was hard to believe earlier in the season the Two Blues handed out a six goals thumping to the same team.

For the Two Blues Matt Laverty, Tim Webb and ‘Junior’ Vuli were valiant in defence and Daniel Anglin was a brave as ever on ball.

Prahran Assumption will round out the season at Toorak Park on Saturday v North Boys/St Pats with a pre game luncheon featuring legendary school XVIII coaches Ray Carroll and Howard Clark as guest speakers.

Reserves:

A first semi-final assignment beckons after the Reserves lost the top-of-the-ladder clash with Williamstown.

Poor kicking for goal proved costly as the Two Blues lost a second successive game by 15 points and slumped from second to fourth on the ladder on percentage.

With one game remaining finals are assured as the Reserves hold a superior percentage of more than 30 per cent over fifth placed Yarra Valley which trails by four points.
