Two Blues Chalk Up 10th Successive Win

Prahran Assumption sits a game clear on top of the ladder and has now defeated every team in VAFA Division 2 after reversing a round two defeat by Glen Eira on Saturday.

The loss for co ladder leader West Brunswick to MHSOB means the Two Blues are now a game and a significant percentage clear atop of the ladder.

The paradox of a sustained winning streak- Saturday was the Two Blues 10th successive win- is that the measure of the wins are judged more critically.

On Saturday it was a pronounced attack of the 'yips' , inaccurate kicking for goal,  a poor third quarter when honours were shared with two goals each and an undisciplined act in the second quarter when a 50m penalty cost a goal. After Glen Eira kicked the first goal of the match inside five minutes, the Two Blues responded with the next seven goals to take a stranglehold on the game.

The 15-22 to 8-12 score line was a fair reflection on the  teams, the Two Blues with almost the double of scoring shots yet in tighter game the misses would have been much more costly.

While  still missing a squad of the the team that defeated the Two Blues in round 2, Glen Eira was a formidable rival ensuring this was never a walk in Packer Park.
But class shine through never better exemplified than by skipper James Musster, who thrilled spectators with his weaving runs and Ged Hogarth with six goals.

Key defenders John Stocker and Tom Atwell were outstanding while Will Brereton's attack on the ball in the air and on the ground was an example to all. First gamer Jay Banks showed he will be a key addition to the ranks as a small forward,his 2-6 return was an encouraging start to his new career.
