Two Blues back on the winner's list
PRAHRAN posted its first win since the 2024 VAFA Division 1 grand final triumph with a dominant win over Kew on Saturday.
The Two Blues snapped a 19 game losing drought at Kew’s Victoria Park to win 12-7 (79) to 7-9 (51).
The pre season talk had Kew one of the favourite’s to win the Division 1 premiership but has now started the season with successive losses.
Prahran’s defence, a cornerstone of its 2024 premiership season, led by Jayden Williams, Patrick Ribbands and James Gottschalk was back to its best restricting Kew to a solitary goal in the first half.
Kew threatened danger with a five goals to two third quarter and had all the momentum going into the final term.
But the Two Blues steadied, lifted their pressure rating and closed out of the game with a dominant final quarter.
Assistant coach Patrick Marks played his best game for the club in an on-ball role while Riley Hogan stood out with some outstanding run down tackles.
An injury scare restricted captain Rory Brodie in the second half but first season player Harrison Cook answered to the challenge of No 1 ruckman. Another first season player Tylar Atkinson impressed with his disposal off half-back.
Ethan Plaza was used in a variety of positions and chipped in with three invaluable goals.
The Two Blues return to Toorak Park next Saturday to take on Monash Blues.

WOMENS
Our combined Prahran-Collegians women’s team backed up their strong performance from round one with a dominant victory over Elsternwick.
After an Anzac Day minute silence and ceremony our women were ready to go.
We started well, and after an arm wrestle in the first 10 minutes, managed to take possession away from the opposition and end the first quarter three goals up against the wind.
There were impressive efforts all over the ground and we came home very strongly in the last quarter, running out comfortable winners by 72 points in another impressive outing for our women’s team.
Bridie Elith was our best on the day from the Prahran contingent. Jessy Brown had a good game on the wing and Ruth Sheridan played another cracker at full-back.
