Tim's Tips for Makybe Diva Stakes Day

TIM HABEL was a racing journalist with the Sun, then Herald-Sun for 36 years and now works as a contributor for The Age. His selections are published mid-week and each Saturday.

FLEMINGTON Saturday, September 12, 2026, rail true, track good 4

RACE 1: SPACE RIDER 1, Markdel 2, Ruska Roma 3, Naval Academy 4

RACE 2: BIG WIGS 1, Unit Five 2, Somethings Burnin' 3, Harry Lime 4

RACE 3: STREISAND 1, Over Excited 2, Satono Glow 3, Lucky Brook 4

RACE 4:  PARADIXIUM 1, Mbube 2, Big Sky 3, Hard Kick 4

RACE 5: SHOCKLETZ 1, Litszdeel 2, Jennivamoose 3, Nearco Frod 4

RACE 6: WELCOMETOTHESHOW 1, Just Party 2, Sass Appeal 3, Cafe Millenium 4

RACE 7:OLIVEANOTHERDAY 1, Arkansaw Kid 2, King Of Roseau 3, Losesomewinmore 4

Emerging sprint start Oliveanotherday should continue on his winning way. No obvious leader, so Harry Coffey can settle him on pace and control the tempo. First time straight is the only query.

RACE 8: SHEZA ALIBI 1 Mr Brightside 2 Sir Delius 3, Autumn Boy 4

Hard to go past Sheza Alibi, undefeated at 1600m including the Doncaster and chased home Sydney's star Autumn Glow resuming. If it is a walk, trot and canter as it was last year Mr Brightside is the obvious danger in a race where many are preparing for bigger races.

RACE 9: GOLD COAST BELLE 1, On Display 2, Salty Pearl 3, Merrigold 4

Gold Coast Belle boasts a terrific record and impressed winning first-up. Tricky draw, but will push forward and be the one to beat. Best of the closers are On Display, blinkers on, and Salty Pearl.

RACE 10: AMBASSADORIAL 1, Storm Leopard 2, Justadeel 3, Suntora 4

Ambassadorial was a revelation in his first preparation for the McEvoys. Always races well fresh, he has tactical speed to cross from a wide draw and take reeling in. Storm Leopard, touted as a Caulfield Cup contender, will be closing late.
