TIM HABEL was a racing journalist with the Sun, then Herald-Sun for 36 years and now works as a contributor for The Age. His selections are published mid-week and each Saturday.

FLEMINGTON Saturday, June 6, 2026, rail true, track heavy 8

RACE 1: DIVINE DOT 1, Vega Vixen 2, Profumo 3, Resonat 4

RACE 2:  FEARLESS FREDDY 1, Mometz 2, Madiyaa 3, Nation's Call 4

RACE 3: FLYING DONE 1, Dirnaseer 2, Kaleo 3, Bel Meyzaan 4

RACE 4:  HIGH ON THE HILL 1, Biologics 2, Wise Inlaw 3, Snallygaster 4

RACE 5: DUCHESS ZOU 1, Stylish 2, First Chorus 3, Miss Aria 4

RACE 6: ELOYOU 1, Spione 2, It's A Knockout 3, He'll Rip 4

Eloyou is ready to win after two runs from a spell. Will settle handy, likes it soft as does backmarker Spione down from Sydney.

RACE 7: SHOCKLETZ 1, Bold Soul 2, Zahrann 3, Starziintheireyes 4

Shockletz is looking for 2000m now and has a top record at Flemington as does Bold Soul who gets in with the minimum after the claim, both like the soft. UK imports Zahrann and Starzintheireyes are dangers on their best English form.

RACE 8: BRAVE DANZA 1, Arabian Prince 2, Noble Work 3, Siriusly Hot 5

Despite the extreme draw Brave Danza can repeat his last start track and distance win when raced wide. Arabian Prince had a torrid wide run in the SA Derby, if there is a lightly raced up and comer it could be Noble Work.

RACE 9: GREAT MAXIMUS 1, Zouper Fund 2, Markdel 3, Midtown Boss 4

If Great Maximus can repeat his Wangoom heavy ground placing he will go close.  The 3kg claim brings him in well in this lesser grade. Zouper Fund is proven fresh and in the wet, Markdel was terrific coming from last over 1000m at Sandown and will be charging late,

BEST BETS:  Duchess Zou, Flying Done. VALUE: Great Maximus
