Tim's Tips for Champions Day
TIM HABEL was a racing journalist with the Sun, then Herald-Sun for 36 years and now works as a contributor for The Age. His selections are published mid-week and each Saturday.
FLEMINGTON Saturday, November 7, 2026, rail 9m, good 4 (showers forecast)
RACE 1: GODDESS KAY 1, Soldi 2, Natural Emotion 3, She's Supreme 4
RACE 2: FIORENOT 1, Superfabulistic 2, He'll Rip 3, Roulette King 4
RACE 3: PINHOLE 1, King Pedro 2, Defiantly 3, Berkeley Square 4
RACE 4: HANKEE ALPHA 1, De Bergerac 2, Inkaruna 3, Arkansaw Kid 4
RACE 5: VIVY AIR 1. Machine Gun Gracie 2, Soverato 3, Sunset Park 4
RACE 6: TEMPTED 1. Joliestar 2, Headwall 3, Giga Kick 4
Tempted did the unthinkable toppling the world's best sprinter Ka Ying Rising in the Everest so she should be winning here. The caveat is she is a first time straight runner. The forecast rain is no concern, she's five for five in the wet. Joliestar, a proven straight performer, is the insurance.
RACE 7: AUTUMN GLOW 1, Sepals 2, Buckaroo 3, Tom Kitten 4
Sit back and watch a champion in action. Autumn Glow is best horse in the land and this is Melbourne's first look at the Sydney star.
RACE 8: COSMIC CRUSADER 1, Sir Delius 2, Aeliana 3, Birdman 4
Cosmic Crusader is a last start Cox Plate winner but is still underrated. He's second favourite behind Aeliana but this iron horse is in the zone and a wet track would be a bonus. Sir Delius has been below his best this spring, the addition of blinkers may spark him into action.
RACE 9: EDUCATED 1, Tres Magnifique 2, Prestige Lucky 3, Royal Rendezvous 4
The first three Quaddie legs may be straight forward but no so the last, A host of chances, Educated was good at Seymour, is a straight winner and handles the wet. Tres Magnifique is racing well and like Royal Rendevous has drawn the 'fast lane' down the grandstand rail. The query runner is Prestige Lucky, untried down the straight or in the wet but is undefeated after impressive Adelaide and Bendigo wins.
BEST BETS. Fiorenot, Cosmic Crusader. VALUE: Educated.
