Sheza Alibi's only defeat in the past seven starts has been at the hands of Sydney champion Autumn Glow. First try at 2000m but looks is a different league than her rivals.
RACE 8: WARWOVEN 1, Blind Raise 2, Call Me Coach 3, Central Europe 4
Classic Sydney v Melbourne Guineas match race. Warwoven was stunning with his Golden Rose (1400m) win but did get the run of the race and is first time the Melbourne way of racing. Like Blind Raise he's untested at 1600m, Blind Raise will settle in the first two from the favourable draw which is his asset.
RACE 9: LADY SHENANDOAH 1, Changing Colours 2, Von Hauke 3, Welcometotheshow 4
Toorak's are always open, this edition is very wide. Lady Shenandoah has a big weight but she's a genuine Group 1 galloper and has a top record at 1600m. Changing Colours has been a revelation since joining the Lucy Yeomans yard, up in class but keeps rising to the challenge. Von Hauke is a backmarker who will be closing late while Welcometotheshow on the limit weight can position handy and is tough in a finish. At least another six chances.
RACE 10: STEPARTY 1, Recon 2, Harry's Yacht 3, Persian Spirit 4
Steparty has won $2m in stakes so he's a quality galloper resuming. This is the most suitable first-up assignment he's had for ages and has trialled well. Recon was wide and outclassed in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke but gets blinkers on, likely improver. Harry's Yacht was a victim of a slowly run race last time while Persian Spirit drops in grade.
