TIM HABEL was a racing journalist with the Sun, then Herald-Sun for 36 years and now works as a contributor for The Age. His selections are published mid-week and each Saturday.
CAULFIELD SATURDAY OCTOBER 11, 2025, rail true, track good 4
RACE 1: MR VERSE 1, Amleto 2, Oraqua 3, Overactive 4
RACE 2: POINT BARROW 1, Vein Girl 2, Sheza Alibi 3, Vivid Sun 4
RACE 3: WHISKY ON THE HILL 1, Taramansour 2, Smokin' Romans 3, Plymouth 4
RACE 4: OH TOO GOOD 1, Jennilala 2, Rumbled Again 3, Molly Bloom 4
RACE 5: KING ZEPHYR 1, Amenable 2, Zou Sensation 3, Benagil 4
RACE 6: BUCKAROO 1, Treasurethemoment 2, Globe 3, Hezashocka 4
RACE 7: SEPALS 1, Evaporate 2, Feroce 3, Lazzura 4
Sepals rises 5kg and goes from 1400m to 1600m after his Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes win but a kind draw is a big plus. Feroce was a good third in the same race, Evaporate worked overtime mid-race and still held on for a Sandown win while Lazzura is a classy mare.
RACE 8: WODETON 1, Autumn Boy 2, Navy Pilot 3, Planet Red 4
The Sydney form looks superior so stablemates Wodeton and Autumn Boy are the stand outs from the Golden Rose. Wodeton worked home well for second while Autumn Boy had a torrid wide run, this time gets the rails so will need to get clear at the right time.
RACE 9: GIGA KICK 1, Tropicus 2, Arabian Summer 3, Benedetta 4
Giga Kick has an Everest win and a second so that tells you his best is the best in this line-up. Resumes off one trial but has the class. Tropicus won well here first-up, now being trained as a sprinter is showing his true potential.
RACE 10: AMEENA 1, She's Bulletproof 2, Vestas 3, Prarie Flower 4
Ameena's fifth in the Group 1 Manikato is clearly the form reference for this Group 3 mares contest. With Fancify staying home at Murray Bridge, She's Bulletproof can glide forward and from on pace is the other major player.
BEST BETS: Oh Too Good, Point Barrow. VALUE: Giga Kick.
