Russell Lucas Receives VAFA Certificate of Merit

If ever an award was thoroughly deserved it has to be our own Russell 'Doc' Lucas on his VAFA Certificate Of Merit accolade.

The most prestigious award for club volunteers in the VAFA, Russell was one of 12 recipients from clubs at the VAFA Season launch on Wednesday March 29 at the hallowed MCG.

Russell Lucas has served Prahran Assumption in its many guises for almost 30 years.

First as a player player at Southbank logging one senior and 73 reserves games from 1990-94. 

Off field he has served many roles ranging from committeeman, to treasurer and team manager, a role he has filled since 2004 and still dutifully performs each Saturday for both seniors and reserves teams,

Russell has been voted best clubman a staggering six times over a 26 year span!.

Every club has its 'unsung achievers' - at Prahran Assumption that man is Russell Lucas.
