Rory Brodie wins club record equalling fourth Prahran Best & Fairest

PRAHRAN captain Rory Brodie joined illustrious company winning his fourth Basil Cleary Best & Fairest Medal at the September 18  presentation night count at Toorak Park.

Brodie joins Adam Sleight (VAFA 2003, 2004, 2007, 2011) and Ray Harvey (VFA 1950, 1951, 1956, 1957) as the only four time best and fairest winners since records were kept from 1940.

Enjoying another stellar season, ruckman Brodie tallied 147 votes with runner-up Jayden Williams on 86 votes and also won the George Hawkins-Kim Smith goal kicking award with 35 majors.

Brodie, pictured above with coach Ash Lever, also wins the Sir Rupert Steele Memorial Perpetual Trophy.

Each match votes are cast by a panel of three on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis so the maximum votes per round is 15 achieved by Williams in round seven and Brodie in the preliminary final.

MC James Gottschalk 147 games player and committee member, was a distinguished host and impressed all with a fast paced vote count.

On baller Ollie Burke won the prestigious Neale Daniher Most Courageous Medal for his on-field courage and selflessness off the field.

Coaches award went to Tom Selleck, a first season recruit from Bairnsdale.

Gus Perez not only won the Reserves Best and Fairest but was also named Cliff Peel-Rob Young Best Club person of the year.

The Alf Blamey Players Player award, decided on votes by their peers, resulted in a tie between 100 senior gamer Jake Stent-Powell and teenager Tom Cotter, a remarkable achievement for a first season player who played just eight games. 

Sheldon Menzies won the women’s team Best and Fairest.
