FOLLOWING last Saturday’s one point loss to Kew, the Two Blues face another stern test this Saturday at Toorak Park against ladder leader PEGS.
Surprisingly to many PEGS suffered its first loss for the season last Saturday at the hands of Oakleigh so will be keen to bounce back.
It was hard to be too critical of the Two Blues effort last week.
To produce a six goals last quarter and come within seconds of a memorable win away from home in a quality contest was their best effort for the season.
The defence led by Joel Hume, Jon Simonetta and Jayden Williams continues to hold up while Matthew Clifford, second on the VAFA Division 1 goal kicking list with 25 goals, and Shaun Chapman have been in stellar form up forward.
But the fact remains in two tight games this year the Two Blues have emerged with just two premiership points- a draw with Old Camberwell.
A fast start will be a must on Saturday with a finals spot on the line even though it is only round 8 with Oakleigh to follow next Saturday.

STATE BANK/SOUTHBANK RE-UNION
SATURDAY May 28 will finally see a State Bank/Southbank re-union after several ‘false starts’ due to COVID.
This function was originally slated for 2020 as a 1990 State Bank premiership 30 year re-union so now it will proceed two years later.
We are expecting a significant roll up for a pre match luncheon with AFL legend Des Tuddenham as guest speaker before the main game at 2pm.
We thank the function organisers and welcome all past players, officials and supporters and especially those listed below who have kindly donated towards best player awards for 2022.
