WE are about to find out where Prahran Assumption sits in the pecking order of VAFA Division 1.

The ‘Bermuda Triangle’ awaits the fourth placed Two Blues- three successive matches against the three top teams on the ladder starting with undefeated Old Camberwell at Toorak Park on Saturday.

Last Saturday the hoodoo of Therry Penola’s John Fawkner Reserve surfaced again as the Two Blues buckled late in a low scoring arm wrestle to lose by three points after leading at every break.

Like most VAFA teams the Two Blues are at their best at home and with the forecast for fine weather and a firm track we are expecting a spirited showing.

Old Camberwell handed Therry Penola an 89 point thrashing at home the previous Saturday so this Saturday promises to be a supreme test.

TONY MIRABELLA RETIREMENT

FOR the supporters wondering about the absence of goal kicking maestro Tony Mirabella, the news is not good.

“Mira’ has a degenerative ankle condition and medical advice is he risks long term damage and a diminished quality of life if he continues to play.

“Mira’ bows out on the highest of notes, kicking an amazing 13-0 in the round 3 win over Brunswick, just his second, and is turned out last game for the club.

Fortunately he will not be lost to the club.

A former coach of Western Australian amateur club Stirling, he will be an invaluable match day assistant to playing coach Matthew Boland.

Before venturing to WA, Tony hailed from country Victoria, playing for Springbank and Waubra in the Central Highlands Football League and then was four times leading goal kicker with Hastings in the Mornington Peninsula Football League.
