TWO BLUES OUT FOR TOP FOUR BERTH

PRAHRAN Assumption make the trek down the highway on Saturday to tackle Peninsula.

The Pirates are always hard to beat on their home ground, evidenced by their narrow win over the Two Blues last year in typically wet and windy conditions.

This will be a battle of mental as well as physical strength with a win earning a top four berth should other results fall the right way.

If ever there was evidence football is often played in the mind exhibit A is last week’s first and second halves v Whitefriars.

With a half-time scoreline of Prahran Assumption 8-9 to Whitefriars 0-3 it was hard to dispute the fact the game was as good as over.

Unfortunately, sub consciously or not, the Two Blues played as though they believed their work had been done conceding nine of last 12 goals of the game.

As coach Brett Dickinson pointed out such prolonged lapses will hurt in the future.

At present the Two Blues are sixth on percentage with two wins and a draw and Peninsula is eighth with one win.
