AWAY games are often treacherous for visiting teams in VAFA football and so it has proved for Prahran Assumption in visits to Therry Penola’s Oak Park territory in recent years.

Wins at the venue have been rare indeed for the Two Blues and while Therry Penola copped an 89 point thrashing at home last Saturday it was at the hands of undefeated Old Camberwell.

You can bank on a much more competitive showing on Saturday.

These matches always have added spice on field as our immediate past coach Ash Mills was a former Therry Penola player.

By a quirk of the draw after five rounds the Two Blues are yet to meet any of the top three teams so it is essential they keep defeating teams below them on the ladder such as Therry Penola.

Wins by sizeable margins in the Seniors and Reserves at home last Saturday despite a growing list of injuries leaves the Seniors fourth on the ladder and the Reserves seventh.

BREAST CANCER  NETWORK SUPPORT DAY

SINCERE THANK YOU to all who contributed to the successful Breast Cancer Appeal day luncheon last Saturday.

From our players who paid for and wore pink socks, to our members and luncheon guests who helped raise $750 for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) .

Special thanks to our guest speaker Des Tuddenham (pictured left), Stonnington City Council Mayor Kate Hely and vice president and MC for the luncheon Paul Taylor.

Tuddy didn’t disappoint with some frank views on the state of his old club, Collingwood.

Coach Matthew Boland (pictured above) addressed members and guests pre match. It was also great to be able to welcome new Mayor Kate and husband Andrew for their first visit to Toorak Park on a match day in an official capacity.

VICKI Mills, mother of our former coach Ash Mills passed on these inspirational words to one of our players Beau Adams which was read out by president Fab Maya at the luncheon.

"I wanted to say something to all at the Club tomorrow about the importance of support from those around you when you’re diagnosed with the horrible beast known as breast cancer.

From the moment of my diagnosis in April 2019 support came from this very special place known as Prahran Assumption FC.

Support for Ash who was coaching at the time; his world was equally as rocked as mine. and support for me.

Generous & genuine care from guys who hardly knew me, messages from those who did.

Practical care like handmade support cushions & grocery vouchers.

Words of encouragement and hope.

Beautiful flowers to put some scented beauty into my world when I most needed it.

I will never forget the way the people at Prahran Assumption wrapped their arms around me and around Ash at our most vulnerable time.
Thank you PA for being the special place you are.
 💞💗💞💗💞💗💞💗

If you can donate something to BCNA it will be $$ well spent. The more research = the more survivors.
Best regards, Vicki Mills

BCNA supports more than 20,000 Australian women and men diagnosed with breast cancer each year, some of which are of course directly or indirectly linked to our PAFC community.
