AT LAST BACK TO TOORAK PARK
AFTER 609 days FINALLY we return to play on our home ground Toorak Park for an Anzac Day eve clash with Brunswick.
Our many new players cannot wait to take the field on the pristine Toorak Park surface.
May we enjoy the occasion and hopefully emerge with a second win for the season.
Last Saturday’s visit to Essendon Fields v PEGS was a reality check for all with the home team converting a 22 point quarter-time deficit into a 58 point win.
Given we have fielded so many new players- 15 in the first two rounds- it should not be a surprise that the team is a work in progress under new coach Matthew Boland.
A TRADITION CONTINUES
TEENAGER Ethan Plaza continued a club tradition when he played his first senior game v PEGS last Saturday.
Pictured being handed his jumper by captain James Musster, Ethan is the son of former Southbank player Tony Plaza who played about 35 games for the club.
Club stalwarts Tim Maya (158 games) and Jack Matherson (207) are respective sons former Southbank player and club president Fab Maya and Kevin Matherson, a past president and State Bank and Southbank player.
Ethan is by far the youngest team member and has all the skills to say he will be a regular senior player.
