TWO BLUES MUST BOUNCE BACK

FOLLOWING a crushing defeat at the hands of Glen Eira last week Prahran Assumption has the chance to bounce back in another crucial clash v Oakleigh at Toorak Park on Saturday.

With five rounds remaining in VAFA Division 1 the only spot in the four up for grabs is fourth placed Oakleigh.

The Oaks are six points ahead of the Two Blues so it is a must win game.

In round 1 the Two Blues trounced Oakleigh by 59 points on their home deck but expect a much closer contest on Saturday.

For starters, star ruckman Rory Brodie is sidelined for the year after knee surgery while Oakleigh will be out for redemption.

The key as usual will be their gun full-forward Aaron Cloke who kicked 10 goals last week v St Mary’s.

Earlier in the year Jayden Williams held Cloke to three goals and minimal influence.

TOORAK PARK CIRCA 2023-24 AND FAREWELL TO LUX PAVILION

CHANGE is fast on the horizon for Two Blues players and supporters.

As you may be aware by now the Charles Lux pavilion, opened in 1967,  is to be replaced from the end of this football season with a new two storey state-of-the-art facility (see above).

Which means our August 13 home game luncheon will be the final in season club function in a room that brings so many happy memories to so many.

The luncheon will be an opportunity to reminisce about old times and enjoy the surrounds of the Lux Pavilion one more time.

More will be known soon about timelines but latest advice from Stonnington Council is the oval will not be available for play until June next year.

Future 2023 ‘home’ game plans will be announced when more is known.
