CHALLENGES are never ending in most football competitions and so it is with Prahran Assumption in VAFA Division 1 when they journey out to Oak Park on Saturday to take on arch rival Therry Penola.

Wins at John Pascoe Fawkner Reserve in recent times have been rare indeed for the Two Blues with heavy conditions and a fired up home team often  conspiring to inflict wins against the odds.

The home team has a re-union of its 1982 premiership team on Saturday, a subtle hint to the home team’s players they are on notice to deliver a strong showing.

Therry Penola’s intense rivalry with the Two Blues dates back to when former player Ash Mills was recruited as Prahran Assumption coach in 2012.

As coach Brett Dickinson implored his troops during the round five game at Peninsula earlier this year- forget the ladder when it comes to games like this.

On that occasion the Two Blues prevailed over lowly Peninsula by 17 points after a tight contest all day.

Expect more of the same this Saturday.

While Therry Penola sits eighth on the ladder with just two wins that means zero unless the Two Blues can match their opponents intensity.

Last Saturday's weeks 49 point trouncing of Oakleigh will count for nothing if the Two Blues do not win on Saturday to keep alive finals hopes, Therry Penola’s incentive will be to avoid relegation.

SOCK IT TO  MND

WHO could not be inspired by Neale Daniher’s fight MND crusade to “tame the beast’ which resulted in more than $2m being raised for research at Monday’s Collingwood v Melbourne Queen’s Birthday match.

As an Assumption College old boy Daniher’s is name proudly linked to Prahran Assumption with the club’s annual Most Courageous award named in his honour.

To raise awareness our players will wear the MND socks in Saturday’s clash with Therry Penola.
