JAMES MUSSTER'S 200TH GAME SATURDAY VS PRESTON

JAMES Musster joins a select band of Prahran VAFA footballers to play 200 senior games in Saturday’s away game v Preston Bullants.

Musster joins Adam Sleight and Jack Matherson in the ‘200 Club’ since Prahran formed a partnership with Southbank Amateur Football Club in 1999.

(Andre Pitts - State Bank, Southbank and Prahran VAFA 364 games also Will Walford (Prahran VFA, Southbank, Prahran VAFA) played more than 300 games).

It is beyond dispute Musster is the most decorated player the Club has produced in the past 20 years as a multiple Club Best and Fairest, 2010, 2015 and 2018, competition Best and Fairest in premiership years 2011 and 2017, (when also player of the match), and Team of the Decade (2010-19) Vice Captain.

His break away speed is matched only by his mental toughness, qualities that rank him one of the premier on ballers in the Division 1 competition.

Musster joined the Two Blues as a teenager with the inaugural Prahran-Caulfield Under 19s in 2007.

One of the lesser known accolades of his career was a trip to Ireland in October 2017 with a party of 35 players and officials.

Musster won the Spirit Of The Big V after a match v Donaghmore Ashbourne.

The following year Musster addressed more than 400 officials at the VAFA season launch at the MCG. After he spoke about his experiences of the tour the chat on our table was "what an impressive young man".

That night, James Musster the footballer elevated to James Musster the statesman. James is a proud ambassador for his Football Club and it is our very good fortune to have him.

FAB MAYA CERTIFICATE OF MERIT PRESENTATION

BELATED though it may have been but our President, Fab Maya, was presented with his VAFA Certificate Of Merit award after last Saturdays match v Therry Penola.

Brian, known to all as Benny Goodman, a long time friend, made the presentation to Fab for his 13 years tenure as President in addition to 136 senior games for Southbank.

Fab was unable to attend the VAFA season launch last month when the certificates were awarded as it clashed with Prahran’s season launch.

Benny is as iconic figure in Melbourne sporting circles following a 55 year association with the VAFA as a player, umpire of 347 matches and 23 grand finals and administrator and is now Sub District Cricket umpires coach.
BREAST CANCER NETWORK DAY - MAY 13

AS in past years, Prahran is committed to supporting the VAFA’s "Play 4 BCNA" fundraiser on the Mother’s Day weekend, May 12 - 14.

Teams are encouraged to get involved in a way that your club feels appropriate, and in our case that will mean our players will be wearing pink BCNA socks for the day, an away game v Preston Bullants.

VAFA have registered a league fundraising event and have set a collective fundraising target of $40,000 to help support the 20,000 Australians that will be diagnosed with breast cancer, this year alone.

We know that we can all show amazing support to the families in our community affected by breast cancer, whilst continuing to create awareness and hit this target together.

Please join our fundraising efforts by donating what you can on our Prahran Football Club "BCNA Pink Sports Day" online donation page.

UNDER 18s BOYS

IN blustery conditions at Moorleigh Reserve, our Under 18 boys put up a gallant effort in a relatively even arm-wrestle all day.

In what will be the theme of the year, many boys showed great resilience in backing up after their Saturday APS school games with some banged up and sore bodies. Despite this and with the late inclusions of Middendorp and Erez, the boys showed real promise in terms executing the game plan and being rewarded on the score board.

Manni Juricic and Jack Handbury proved a handful up forward for the Tigers, our midfielders worked tirelessly all day, lead by our captain Jake McPhee and our backline is starting to gel as a cohesive unit!
Round 4 sees us taking on the Waverley Hawks.

PRAHRAN  0-0  2-1  2-2 4-2 (26)
ST BEDES’S  4-6  4-8 6-10 7-12 (54)

Best - Middendorp, Juricic, Erez, Cornish, Handbury, Peavey
Goals -  Handbury (2), Juricic, Smith

UNDER 18s GIRLS

The Under 18 girls had another emphatic win scoring 13-14 (82) while holding Bentleigh St Peter’s scoreless!
The undefeated team sits second on the ladder with a percentage of 1142!
