SEASON LAUNCH KICKS OFF SEASON
SEASON 2025 for Prahran Football Club was launched on Saturday evening at the spectacular new Toorak Park pavilion.
More than 70 players, partners, friends, and officials attended the function and heard insightful words from guest speaker Greg Hutchison, the 1987 VFA Prahran premiership coach and last year’s Coaching and Performance Manager.
Hutchison recalled the words of the late Dale Tapping at last year’s season launch, where he stated, “There will be games you have to win two, three, or four times.” A sentiment that remains just as true today.
Reflecting on his eight seasons as coach of VAFA Premier League club Old Brighton, Hutchison noted that the most significant moment in his tenure was the introduction of a women’s team, which transformed the club’s culture.
After a six-year hiatus, Prahran will once again field a women’s team this season, with coach Don Angus announcing Alina Meich as team captain. Prahran previously fielded an All-Abilities women’s team in 2018 and 2019.
Senior men’s coach Craige Milward announced the leadership group for the upcoming season:
- Captain: Rory Brodie
- Vice-Captain: Shaun Chapman
- Deputy Vice-Captain: Jesse Waters
- Leaders: Jake Stent-Powell, Mackenzie Mayne
- Emerging Leaders: Pat Ribbands, Ollie Burke
Tom Bowes and Blake Graham will once again share Reserves captaincy duties under new coach Jackson Partridge.
The function was the perfect way to kick off the new season, with special thanks to Shaun Chapman, who is managing social functions on behalf of his teammates and supporters.
