FROM THE PRESIDENT

IN November 2025 I was elected president of Prahran Football Club (PFC), and as we look forward to season 2026 I thought I would take this opportunity to speak to the entire PFC community.

Our president for the past 14 years Fab Maya, together with the committee, have established a firm foundation for the growth and prosperity of the Club. It’s my job to build upon that base and continue to oversee that growth.

I have had a long involvement with Prahran which began with four years on the committee for the PFC juniors and my eventual role as their President (2017-2018). I was delighted to see my son Patrick come through the Juniors and then choose to play with the seniors rather than his school based team, the Old Xavs.

A decision which has seen him thrive in the Club with a premiership in 2024 and winning the Best and Fairest in 2025.

One of the things that I like most about our Club is the sense of community and belonging that are our core values. We have long described ourselves as the Country Club in the City - community, friendship and support for each other are the threads that bind us.

Consistent with that description, this year we have welcomed some new players from East Gippsland. Young lads that I have personally known for many years and whom I am confident will enjoy their time with us.

I want to build upon that sense of community. With the facilities that we have at Toorak Park I am keen to grow our supporter base and encourage our local community to get behind their local club.

I want to grow our sponsorship base. I want to build our teams – men and women – and see them all enjoy success. But most of all I want to ensure that everyone involved, regardless of the manner or depth of their involvement, recognises that they are a valued and integral part of our PFC community.

It is our community values that underpin the strength of our Club. So whether you are a past or present player, a supporter, a volunteer, a sponsor, a partner of anyone involved or are someone who is interested in getting involved, then I say to you all – bring on 2026, get on board, and go the mighty Two Blues.

John Ribbands, Prahran Football Club President.

 SEASON FIXTURE, PRACTICE MATCHES

THE Division 1 fixture for 2026 was released by the VAFA this week, with Prahran set to host Preston Bullants in the season opener at Toorak Park on Saturday, 18 April.

There was a delay in the release of the fixture following considerable debate between clubs and the VAFA over the proposed absence of the traditional King’s Birthday bye in June.

The mid-season bye is now scheduled for 11 July.

Meanwhile, the Two Blues’ pre-season training is in full swing under new coach Ash Lever, who served as assistant coach for the past two seasons.

Three practice matches are scheduled:

14 March – Away v Avondale Heights
21 March – Away v Kyneton
28 March – Away v Warrandyte

HALL OF FAME, APRIL 17, 2026

PRAHRAN will celebrate its 140th year with an inaugural Hall of Fame on April 17, in what promises to be a spectacular introduction to the 2026 season.

The function, to be held at Caulfield Racecourse, will honour the many players, coaches and officials who have served the Club over those 140 years and celebrate some of the memorable moments along the journey.

Upon payment, you will still receive your membership pack by mail or, if preferred, you can collect it from Toorak Park at a home game from April 18.

If you still prefer to pay by cheque, no problem — please address it to PO Box 64, Prahran 3181.
