New Administrators for 2014

Prahran Assumption will enter season 2014 with a new look administration following the appointments of Steve Zayler as general manager and Anthony Jackson as strategy and operations manager.

Zayler who has played or coached at Prahran since his days as an U12s footballer in 1999, will combine his duties with managing Auskick at Toorak Park and  assisting Collingwood VFL coach Dale Tapping with the club’s Community Sport Program in Stonnington primary schools, Horace Petty Housing Estate and Currajong Special Needs School.

Jackson a former Prahran VFA and Southbank 1990 premiership player, will develop a blueprint for the club’s future.

Club president Fab Maya announced the appointments at last Saturday’s season launch (March 22) at Prahran Hotel, our major sponsor for 2014.

Coach Ash Mills announced key defender Jack Matherson as club captain at the season launch .

Last season Matherson was co captain with key forward Adam Sleight who will stand down from the leadership group replaced by star on baller James Musster but continue to play.

In other club news, Prahran will field a netball team for the first time competing  in the Prahran Netball Association playing on Tuesday nights from July at the Romanis indoor centre.

Meanwhile Prahran Assumption prepared for the VAFA season opener with an encouraging practice match win over Banyule last Saturday (March 22).

The Two Blues, who will compete in Division 1, downed  C Grade team Banyule 15-12 (102) to 15-6 (96).

Supporters were buoyed by the form of recruit key forwards Jed Hogarth and John Grigg who appeal as able replacements for retired full-forward Pete Cristoforo.

Prahran Assumption’s final practice match will be at Eltham on Saturday before the round 1 clash with North Old Boys/St Pats at Ballarat on April 5.

The club has chartered a bus for players and supporters leaving Toorak Park at 8am.

The Two Blues will be based at Righetti Oval until May because of works at Toorak Park.
