Neil Wallmeyer VAFA Certificate Of Merit 2015
Neil Wallmeyer, premiership player and coach, past general manager and commiiteeman for more than 20 years , was one of 10 recipients of a VAFA Certificate Of Merit award at the 2-015 season launch at the MCG ON Wednesday March 25.
Neil, known to all as 'Bubba' has been involved at Souithbank/Prahran Assumption for 27 years and will continue his association this year on the match committee.
Simon Hunt, president of Old Xavierians for the past 10 years, spoke on behalf of the Certificate Of Merit winners.
Geoff Reilly, a stalwart of Caulfield Grammarians as a coach and committeeman, and long time Caulfield Cricket Club figure, was awarded life membership of the VAFA.
Neil’s record speaks for itself:
- Started Playing at the club in 1988
- More than 250 senior games, two premierships and club captain in 1990 Premiership
- Last played filling in for our reserves in 2013 aged 51!.
- Coached Reserves for two stints in early nineties and again in 2013. Premiership coach in 1997
- Life Member
- Best Clubman twice
- Committee representative for more than 20 years
- Involved in setting up our junior club, which now fields over 18 sides including a girls team.
- Involved in setting up Prahran Assumption Netball club in 2014
- General Manager of our club 2000, 2005-06, 2010-11
- Umpired Reserves for club over numerous years when needed.
- Currently Senior assistant coach for last two years.
President Fab Maya said Wallmeyer was a "fine example of the amateur spirit and has been an absolute complete clubman and is loved by all around the club."
