Magpies Swoop giving Prahran Assumption the Blues

Seniors:

West Brunswick lifted itself off the bottom of the ladder with an awe-inspiring second-half comeback against Prahran Assumption at Toorak Park today to claim its second win of the season.

The Two Blues dominated the first half with John Stocker and Callum Wilson hitting the scoreboard in clinical fashion as the margin blew out to 36 points at the main break and tipsters around the competition looked set to lock the game away.

Enter Cameron Perkins.

The livewire forward in the number 2 jumper stole the show in the third term booting five goals for the quarter as the Magpies piled on seven majors in a massive turnaround to lead by seven points at the final break.

Perkins opened the final term the way he finished the third with his sixth goal before Wilson and James Falcone kicked truly to level the scores.

Two quick goals from the visitors again gave the Magpies breathing space before Harrison Taylor kicked his first with just under two minutes remaining. Neither side could get the ball out of the middle in the dying stages. A host of ball ups sealing the result as the Magpies snatched the win.

The reserves were gallant in their 63-point loss earlier in the day. Fielding a host of new players, including a couple of teenage inclusions in Roko Jurcic and Kye Walford, the squad tried hard in the wet conditions.

The thirds were also soundly beaten as a raft of injuries, work commitments and holidays decimated the side of players.
