Ken Bremner Joins Coaching Roster
Former State Bank premiership coach and Southbank and Prahran Amateur Football Club president Ken Bremner has joined the Prahran Assumption Football Club department for 2012.
Football director Kevin Matherson announced the appointment of Bremner this week (July 25).
“In our lead up to the finals the football department would like to make sure that we do everything possible to give ourselves the best chance of success during the finals," Matherson said.
Due to work commitments, Reserves coach Ange Sammartino has not always been able to commit the time he would like to attending training and at times has had to go back to work after reserve games.
“This has lessened his ability to get around the players and in particularly the reserves players to provide as much feedback and support as he would like. Millsy (senior coach Ashley Mills), Ange and I have asked Ken to assist in this area,’’ he said.
Bremner was State Bank premiership coach in 1987 and Southbank president from 1995 to 1998, and president in 1999 the first year of the Prahran Amateur Football Club. He is father of senior player Michael Bremner.
‘’I am sure Ken can add experience and help our players get the best out of themselves for the remainder of the season, ’’ Matherson said.
‘’Ken’s major objective will be to help gel our playing group together and encourage them to get to training and enjoy their football and the club in general. I have asked him to assist with providing feedback to players during and after games.’’
‘’Ken will be on the bench to assist Ange and Spy (Steve Powell) on match days from Sat 4/8 until the end of our finals campaign and he will also attend training on Monday and Wednesdays to assist Millsy in any way he can.’’
