SANDOWN Saturday, August 22, 2026, rail true, track heavy 10
RACE 1: COMMIT 1, Vallice 2, Judas Tree 3, Hydrobomb 4
RACE 2: CRUISERWEIGHT 1, Buccleuch 2, Two Wolves 3, Cherish Me 4
RACE 3: NEARCO FROD 1, Tempesti 2, Think Giant 3, Smokin' Romans 4
RACE 4: FIRST CHORUS 1, Justadeel 2, Regal Zeus 3, St Lawrence 4
RACE 5: INCOGNITO , Divine Dot 2, Buggsy 3, Unit Five 4
RACE 6: FINAL MOMENT 1, Saluted 2, Conscience 3, Set Me Loose 4
Surprising to most we are dealing with a heavy track after Sandown copped 7mm on Thursday night. The conditions suit Final Moment, who won at the track and distance on a heavy 9 two starts back defeating Saluted. Conscience and Set Me Loose are lightly raced and promising.
RACE 7: CAVALRY GIRL 1, Extragalactic 2, Hedged 3, Stokke 4
The race sets up nicely for Cavalry Girl, an in-form mare effective in the soft who can track the speedy Beast Mode. If they overdo it up front Extragalactic will be powering home late.
RACE 8: GOLD COAST BELLE 1, Tennessee Bound 2, Victorious Spirit 3, Rhapsody Chic 4
Match between two classy mares with impeccable form credentials. Tennessee Bound is undefeated in six starts while Gold Coast Belle won her last three before a spell including the Bendigo Guineas. The 4kg weight swing could give Gold Coast Belle the edge.
RACE 9: CASTLE ON HIGH 1, Mukhtalif 2, Makdane 3, Furious 4
Value runner is Castle On High. Most effective on wet tracks, gets blinkers first time and down on the minimum will be strong late. Former UK galloper Makhtalif was impressive on Australian debut with a Caulfield win then flopped. Unknown on a heavy while Makdane is at home in the conditions and Furious was good resuming.
BEST BETS. Nearco Frod, Cruiserweight. VALUE: Castle On High
