FAREWELL TO CHARLES LUX PAVILION LUNCHEON AUGUST 13

THE end of an era is fast approaching when the Charles Lux Pavilion is demolished at the end of this football season to make way for a new two storey state-of-art complex.

To mark the occasion the club will stage its final home game luncheon of the season on Saturday August 13 with Derek Hine, former Prahran coach and life member and now Collingwood national recruiting manager as guest speaker.

We will have other important guests plus a late arrival from the great Kevin Sheedy.

Everyone is welcome to celebrate the many wonderful memories of the Lux Pavilion opened in 1967 and scene of many a celebration following premierships and milestones.

Join us for what promises to be a day of nostalgia and memories of glory days gone by.

While the new pavilion is under construction the Toorak Park oval will also be re-surfaced which means our senior and juniors teams will be looking for a temporary home until June 2023.

Talks with Stonnington Council are on going.

BRAVE TWO BLUES STAY IN FINALS FIGHT

ON a sodden Toorak Park with both Oakleigh and the Two Blues duelling for a finals berth last Saturday’s contest was always going to be tight and tough.

With coach Brett Dickinson taking the field for the first time this season in the absence of injured star ruckman Rory Brodie the Two Blues won a blue collar battle by three points 8-6 (54) to 7-9 (51).

The precious four premiership points means Prahran Assumption is now just two points behind fourth placed Oakleigh and equal on points with fifth placed Old Camberwell which boasts a much higher percentage.

On Saturday we welcome St Mary’s, winless and going through a wretched season after a mass walkout of senior players before the start of the season.

The equation is simple for the Two Blues, keep winning and then rely on other results.
