Historic day for Two Blues Saturday August 13
HISTORIC DAY AT TOORAK PARK
IF these walls could talk what a collection of tales they would tell. The Charles Lux Pavilion has been home to thousands of Prahran players and supporters since its opening on April 11, 1967, witnessing premiership celebrations, sad times and happy times as Prahran made its journey through the VFA halcyon days to now the VAFA.
This Saturday August 13 marks the last time our players will use the change rooms and supporters will mingle in the Lux social rooms. To mark the occasion a club luncheon will be held with former Prahran coach and now Collingwood national recruiting manager Derek Hine guest speaker. The premises will be demolished after this football season to make way for a superb new two storey complex. All supporters welcome, it’s not too late to book.

BEAU ADAMS 150th SENIOR GAME ON HOLD
PRAHRAN ASSUMPTION’s co captain Beau Adams was due to play his 150th senior game v Kew this Saturday but unfortunately has fallen victim to COVID. That means Beau’s milestone is now likely to occur in the final round at Whitefriars on Saturday week. While finals are still a mathematical possibility albeit highly unlikely following last week’s heavy loss to ladder leader PEGS , regardless the home game clash v Kew on Saturday holds special significance. It will be the last time our players prepare for a match in the surrounds of the Lux pavilion change rooms. The locker room doors displays the names of every Prahran player to play 100 or more senior games or began their career with the Two Blues and then went to play VFL/AFL.
BASIL CLEARY APPRECIATION DAY
BASIL Cleary, a club icon who died suddenly aged 79 in June 2019, was the one constant in the evolution of the Prahran Assumption Football Club. In all Basil devoted 60 years service to our club, involved first as an administrator from the Commonwealth Bank days, to State Bank, Southbank and in more recent times Prahran Assumption. Basil was awarded a VAFA Volunteer Certificate Of Merit way back in 1982. The club’s major individual award the seniors best and fairest is named the Basil Cleary Medal, a fitting honour for a man who devoted a lifetime of service to the cause. Accordingly we salute Basil’s contribution on Saturday after being unable to do so in recent years due to COVID.
